Spring-Inspired Vase

I feel I should preface this post by saying if I didn’t have two small kiddos I would not decorate for Easter.  It’s just not my thing.  But, after daily pressure from my 6 year old I succumbed and created this free Easter/Spring-inspired vase.

I always say “free” because I had the supplies on hand.  This drives my husband nuts as he claims at some point I had to buy everything and therefore NO project is technically free.  I hate it when he’s right.  So…the straws were $1 per packet of 10 and I used 4 packets for this project [Target dollar section], double-sided tape cost apx $5, jute twine was $2.30 and “vase” which is actually an empty Pirouline wafer tin cost $2.00.

I covered that empty Pirouline tin ages ago in jute twine.  It has the perfect dimensions for this project and I didn’t have to cut any straws.

First I slapped a couple strips of double-sided tape onto the tin/vase.

Then stuck my paper straws onto the side.

To add a bit more interest to this sweet thing I wrapped some jute twine around the middle then tied an old necklace charm onto it.

I found this old charm in my jewelry box.

Fill with your favorite flowers and call it done.  This took a whole 5 minutes to make and my daughter is beyond excited about it.  It’s pink after all.  There…I’ve officially decorated for Easter.  :-)   I know, I’m such a Scrooge.

I love the vase – way too cute – who’d have thought paper straws could look so great!! Wherever did you get the wooden butter mold – cookie mold? behind the herb pots. I love it.
